It's as easy as 1-2-3!
Step 1. Fill out the FAFSA.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the first step to apply for financial aid.
Step 2. Review your award letters.
Schools may use the information from your FAFSA to determine your financial aid award. Your award amount will vary from school to school, depending on the types of scholarships and other aid available at the school. Once the school finds the best combination of aid for you, the school will send you an award letter, which details the types and amount of student aid for which you qualify.
Step 3. Select your school.
After you evaluate your award letters, it's time to select your school in terms of the total educational costs and the educational experience offered. Agree to the award letter and contact the school's financial aid office.
- You can indicate on your FAFSA the colleges to which you plan to apply and/or the postsecondary schools to which you would like your information to be sent.
