Fast Fact

Did you know that the most common mistake people make on the FAFSA is leaving a field blank?

How to Apply for a Loan

It's as easy as 1-2-3!

Step 1. Fill out the FAFSA®.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the first step to apply for financial aid.

Step 2. Review your financial aid offers.

Schools may use the information from your FAFSA to determine your financial aid offer. Your amount will vary from school to school, depending on the types of scholarships and other aid available at the school. Once the school finds the best combination of aid for you, the school will send you a financial aid offer, which details the types and amount of student aid for which you qualify.

Compare your financial aid offers.

Step 3. Select your school.

After you evaluate your financial aid offers, it's time to select your school in terms of the total educational costs and the educational experience offered. Agree to the financial aid offer and contact the school's financial aid office.
